Did I achieve them?

I would say I completed roughly 2/3 of my objectives for this term, which for me in all honesty I feel is pretty good. The only ones I feel I actually didn’t achieve were my personal goals and one of my industry objectives. Why? I would say that I didn't achieve my personal objectives due to them being overly ambitious particularly within the money department.

The first being moving out from my family home. This was way too expensive for me at this time however I have been staying with my partner more and less at home, so I suppose I have half achieved this objective.

The second objective I failed was traveling to Japan. I didn't achieve this due to the borders of Japan being closed for a significant amount of time through the term. As well as this the cost of the flights had considerably gone up since I originally looked at going, leading me to decide to abandon this until post graduation and going to Japan as a graduation present for myself instead.

The third objective I didn’t achieve was filling up my tattoo sleeves. This again was due to the pure cost of tattoo’s at the moment. Sadly I didn’t have enough money saved up to get them done, however this is something which could be easily moved to post graduation or beyond.

The final objective I failed to achieve was to be able to leave my part time job and start something more industry related. I had one opportunity to do this which I got from the careers day before the bluezoo trip. This was a job teaching children how to do basic animation in a private after school class. This was seemingly perfect, however when I got offered the job there were many inconsistencies in what I was told I would be offered and what I was actually offered. Leading me to have to sadly decline the job. Despite this I still do feel this objective is achievable in the next term.

On to a more positive note, I was able to complete a large number of objectives. All of which were directly related to industry and or career progression which is greatly important to me. I feel my Development Work, Industry Events and Industry Feedback pages reflect this perfectly. Although I achieved this many this term, I feel I need to create more realistic goals for myself next term to see if I can achieve all of them. That's a goal in itself!

Did I achieve them?
I would again say I completed around 2/3 of my objectives. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of my control quite a few of them were unachievable or I ended up sadly just not having enough time. Overall though the objectives I did complete  I feel I did so very well and I am happy with the final outcomes. Now onto the objectives themselves and why I failed them.

The objective I feel like I didn't meet, or at the very least not well was meeting accurate time frames which I set for myself. This I feel was due to two things. The first being my pre production and production of the shots I was making took too long. This was due to me accidentally adding a baked filter onto my footage making it impossible to accurately track. The second reason however is more significant with my father becoming terminally ill. Due to this I was spending a lot  of time at the hospital and care home. I feel however if this wasn't the case I would have definitely been able to achieve this objective.

The second objective I failed was to start to get to grips with learning how to speak and read Japanese. This again I feel I did somewhat but I would say overall I failed.  This I feel again was due to plenty of stress going on in my life at the time. I didn't want to overstress or over burden myself with more pressure, let alone trying to understand a whole new language. That being said I do now have a basic understanding of some phrases and alphabets, however it is much less than I originally would have liked.

The third objective I didn’t achieve was beginning to go regularly to the gym. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do this due to honestly just never getting around to doing it. That being said I did however start to diet and am losing weight that way. But when I get into a stable schedule with work and a career I will then work going to the gym into my life regularly as a habit as it once was.

The final objective I failed was again a half fail. This was to leave my job and work in something more industry related. This was only a half fail as I did end up actually getting a job more industry related, that being working for Ravensbourne as Animation Technical Assistant. However I ended up staying at my other part time job too, making this objective a half fail.

Other than those objectives however I feel I actually did really well in achieving my other objectives. From impressing industry professionals with my digi double animation FMP, to gathering a much better understanding of the VFX pipeline. I feel through the objectives I achieved this term I have actually made myself a much more appealing candidate for a junior position. That being said I haven't heard back anything as of yet but that won't stop me!
