Overall this unit has been the most fulfilling for me to date. Over the past 6/7 months I have learned so much, not only in an academic sense, but about myself and where I can take my career past university. After doing in depth research into companies I was interested in at the start of term 1 I found that I was still heavily invested in VFX. However as the first and second term went on and I attended more and more industry events, I found that I was actually interested in more than just VFX. It opened up gateways which I originally never really considered or had an interest in. These being; Games, games cinematics, and in a surprisingly rare case feature, but only more stylized feature. The unit also allowed me to explore lots of different animations to create a competent graduate reel for leaving university with. Something I feel I have created. A reel which shows a multitude of different types of animation. Those being; technical animation, creature animation and last but not least body mechanics. Allowing me to leave university shows that I can do a multitude of types of animation, which hopefully will make me a more suitable candidate for a junior animation role for potential employers. In terms of the objectives I set myself, I feel again as stated on my objectives page, that I achieved the ones which were most important where I could. Overall I would say it was a success, especially in the career and education sense, again I feel leaving me a much more idyllic asset to a company as a fresh graduate. Overall this unit has taught me so much, despite being mostly self driven I have found myself constantly learning new things to better myself as a person and an animator, may that be new software skills, people skills or just how to give better and more informative feedback and how to act on it. I now have the privilege to look forward into the open horizon leaving university and beginning my career in animation. I am lucky to have a few possible jobs in the pipeline, so fingers crossed one of them gets back to me and I can get started with my career! This is normally the part where I would say I look forward to the next one, however as this is my last all I have to say is thank you. Without this course I wouldn't be in the place I am now finally beginning a career I have yearned for, and for that I am truly grateful.
